Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the SeatMate website and waitlist. Please read them carefully. By using this site, you agree to these terms.
Effective 29 May 2026 · Last updated 29 May 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using seatmate.org (the “Site”), joining our waitlist, or otherwise communicating with us through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. About SeatMate
SeatMate is building a verified student ridesharing platform. At this stage, the Site is a marketing and waitlist platform — the ridesharing product is in active development and is not yet generally available. Features, timelines, and descriptions on the Site are indicative and may change as the product develops.
3. Eligibility
The Site is intended for use by university and tertiary students and others with a genuine interest in SeatMate. If you are under 18, please use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. When the ridesharing product launches, additional eligibility requirements (such as verification of a valid university email address) will apply and will be set out at that time.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, or another person’s information without their consent;
- use the Site for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its systems, or its data;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site, including by submitting spam or automated requests; or
- copy, scrape, or reproduce the Site’s content except as expressly permitted.
5. Waitlist and communications
When you join the waitlist or contact us, you consent to us contacting you about SeatMate, including product availability and updates. You can opt out at any time by emailing [email protected]. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access to the product or any particular pricing or features.
6. Intellectual property
The SeatMate name, logo, branding, text, graphics, and design on the Site are owned by or licensed to SeatMate and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes, but you may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our prior written consent.
7. Third-party links and services
The Site may contain links to third-party websites or rely on third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third parties, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
8. Disclaimer
The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we work hard to keep information accurate and the Site available, we make no warranties that the Site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any forward-looking statements (such as roadmap milestones or market projections) will be achieved.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SeatMate and its founder will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to re-supplying the relevant service or the reasonable cost of doing so.
10. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory and the Commonwealth of Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as SeatMate evolves and our product launches. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
